At approximately 2:30 PM WIB on 3 December 2025, a landslide occurred at the Pakkat Hydropower Plant area, located in Pakkat District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra. The Pakkat Hydropower Plant is one of Kencana Energy’s operational renewable energy assets.
Operations at the Pakkat Hydropower Plant have been temporarily suspended while the company and relevant authorities conduct further investigation to assess the operational impact.

- The Company will not subject to penalties from PLN, as the production output of the Pakkat Hydropower Plant prior to the Event had nearly reached 100% of the ECE, and the event also categorized as a forced majeure under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
- All assets of the Pakkat Hydropower Plant are covered by insurance, including Business Interruption coverage
- The Pakkat Hydropower Plant is one of the Company’s four hydropower projects that have commenced commercial operations, and the Company’s other projects continue to operate normally
The Pakkat Hydropower Plant is Kencana Energy’s first hydropower facility, operating since 31 January 2018. It is operated by a subsidiary, namely PT Energy Sakti Sentosa (ESS). The plant has a total capacity of 18 MW, representing 36.7% of Kencana Energy’s total hydropower capacity of 49 MW.
Located in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, Pakkat HPP uses a run-of-river design powered by the Aek Sirahar River, with a 251 km² catchment area and annual rainfall of 3,650 mm.
Based on the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between ESS and PLN, the Pakkat Hydropower Plant was constructed and operated under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) scheme for a 30-year period, starting from its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 31 January 2018.
In 2024, Pakkat successfully produced 104,316,874 kWh of electricity, an increase of 1.59% compared to the 2023 production of 102,681,998 kWh. The 2024 production reached 110.04% of Pakkat HPP’s annual production target of 94,800,000 kWh.
